Cuddle Girl I like this character. She doesn't have a name yet, but I'd like to use her a story.

For the next five or six days I need to stir it once a day, and then on Sunday or Monday I get to pour it into the big ass bottle, and let it sit for a couple of months.

I'm really curious, and I think the Roomie is too. If this goes well, I may buy some elderberry base and make some of my Dad's elderberry wine recipe. It sure beats spending an entire day mucking through a swamp in the rain, stripping elderberries into garbage bags.

Or slicing up countless stalks of rhubarb. Rhubarb makes a surprisingly crisp white wine.

My dad's always been a big DIY proponent. If I could find me some jute anywhere in town, I'd be a macrame-ing fool. That was my parents' response to my penchant for tying knots in, on and around everything in the house. Honestly, I feel like a complete idiot buying anything I can make myself. And the whole inability to sew is a constant source of disappointment.

So they've started writing the script for The Hobbit. You know how many Tolkien fans feel about LotR? That is how I feel about TH. Growing up, it was the Tolkien story I loved best, even though LotR had my girl in it being awesome. I am a tiny bit nervous about the new movies. Excited, though.

okay, so i just spent THREE HUNDRED dollars on stuff for school... dr m must've lost his damn mind -- several of the books cost over 40 dollars used. one (which i held off on buying -- i'm hoping to get it in the next batch so i can combine shipping for it) cost over a hundred used.

sigh.

this is not the pay period i'll be buying books for comps. shit shit shit.

you can't feel too bad for me tho. about half of this cost was for a new PDA. this was totally an impulse purchase (where i thought about it all summer first, but then decided to strike when i found the one i wanted for less than 150 (full cost is something like 325)), esp since i'm normally really neurotic about NOT getting stuff like this during the URGH time for book buying. i haven't even bought for the other class!! :-/

thank goodness i'm going to be able to eat for free at home for the next week, because otherwise i would be one broke, hungry chick.

Now that was a good climbing night. Okay, I stank on the bouldering problem (still can't get that last move, though I feel closer.) But I did a 5.7 I've never done before on the first try (There was some falling off involved), and then I re-sent two other routes I've done before.

And now apparently I have some fiction that's pestering for attention....

Since becoming a food snob, I have only ever bought fresh pasta, which is kind of *astronomically* expensive. So I am wondering, dear flist, from those of you with experience in the matter:

1) How much does a pasta press cost?

and 2) How much labour/time does it take to use?

and 3) How much effort does it take to wash?

What I am basically asking it, is it a worthwhile investment, and will I use the damn thing or will it sit in the pantry like an ugly and expensive knick-knack?
